If your body forms a capsule of scar tissue around the implant it contracts and makes the feeling of the breast hard. Some people form this tissue more than others. Sometimes if the implant is put under the muscle instead of the breast tissue alone it is said it causes less scaring with the result of capsules and contraction. If it happens you can have the capsule ‘popped’ or removed…..but they tend to reoccur in people who had them. A plastic surgeon is the best person to ask. Alot of women with implants are so happy with the result that this ’side effect’ is livable for them. In other words….worth it.

the girl above me is right about the scar tissue and capsular contracture. Even though it’s highly controversial, most surgeons have their patients massage their breast for 6 months to a year. My surgeon gave me a guide and I do it serveral times a day. Someone I know of has had capsular contracture and it wasn’t quite as bad to need the surgery to correct it. So her surgeon actually grabbed her so hard and massaged it that it broke the scar tissue and immediately felt soft.
Another thing, silicone implants have a more natural feel. They’re much softer. Saline is a liquid and has a firmer feel.
